Welcome to the archived website for Tara Celebrations up to 7 November 2018

Celebrating the 8 fold year with ritual & meditation

Based in Ireland, with connections all over the world, we are non-profit making, open, inclusive and non-denominational, drawing on all philosophies and traditions. An eclectic mix of like minded thinkers from various backgrounds. There is no lower or upper limit to numbers, anyone who feels drawn to join in an event is welcome. No tickets or entry permits required.

No charge for gatherings for the eight festivals. Meditation meets & other activities usually have a small fee for expenses, room hire, etc.

Samhain 2018 - Déjà vu Anyone?

For this years Tara Celebrations Samhain ceremony, there will be two events and all are welcome to join in both.

Wednesday 31st October 2018 meet 6pm

On Wednesday 31st October we will be attending the "Flame of Samhain" festival in Athboy, Co. Meath. This event is also open to the general public and starts with a meeting at Fair Green before a procession to Tlachta ( Hill of Ward), where it is said that the tradition of lighting a bonfire to celebrate Samhain originated. http://athboy.net/the-flame-of-samhain-festival/

Please note that our group will meet first at the Topoil service station, Athboy at 6pm. When we reach the Hill, there will be a short meditation/ceremony to celebrate/commemorate our ancestors and loved ones who have passed on, before we join in with the general festivities at the fire.

Saturday 3rd November 2018 meet 7am

On Saturday 3rd November at 7am, we will be meeting at the entrance gate of the Hill of Tara. We will then go for a celebration at the Mound of the Hostages (which is aligned to sunrise at that time).

There we will celebrate/honour our ancestors/loved ones who have passed on. There will be an opportunity for anyone who would like to contribute to do so. We will finish - as usual - with the sharing of food and drinks that people have brought.

The Mound of the Hostages chamber is not open to the public, although you can see in through the metal gate. Obviously whether you see the honey-coloured sunrise light on the back wall of the short passageway is up to the kindness of the sun, clouds and Irish weather.

All are asked to remember it is Ireland in October/ November so dress appropriately for both occasions. Again, all are welcome to join us at this special time.

In addition to these outdoor events is:

Monday 5th November 2018 meet 8pm

Open Heart meditation at Bective Mill Bed and Breakfast. This continues the format of the first Monday of the Month meditation when people bring along something that inspires them to share with others. No doubt, given the day that's in it, there will be an opportunity to share in what has 'come up' for you over this Samhain weekend.

Greetings to all those in the Southern Hemisphere celebrating Bealtaine and looking forward to the coming summer - may you be blessed with warmth and sunny days whilst us Northerners shiver in the winter cold and snow.

Wherever you are, if you cannot come to Ireland and join in 'in person' you may like to be with us all 'in spirit' by lighting a candle and taking a moment to honour and celebrate your own ancestors.
