December 2016 Christmas present - Adoption of Alfie a Donkey living at the Donkey Sanctuary, Belfast 'Alfie is a lovable donkey whose laid back character and calming nature makes him very popular with everyone he meets. Originally from Galway, Alfie came into our care in 2010 when he became the 10,873rd donkey to be given a home for life. He was bred at his home and was relinquished with eight other colts due to his owner having too many donkeys to care for. Alfie arrived at our donkey assisted therapy centre in Belfast on 14th April 2011 and warmly welcomed HRH The Princess Royal at the Centre’s official open day in June that year.'

2008 & 2009 for NavJeevan Village near Mumbai in India NavJeevan (meaning 'New Life') dates back to 1994 when a group of youth set about to interact with the children of the women who ply the world's oldest trade in a sprawling ghetto called Kamathipura, Mumbai. The idea simply was to engage the kids constructively and thereby spare them the terror of witnessing the sordid scenes in the dingy alleys and bylanes in the area. Over the years NavJeevan gradually stepped up its involvement and today has assumed total responsibility for the education and upkeep of a number of children in the NavJeevan Village. www.navjeevan.org/home.htm The Village sent this lovely card as a thank you for your donations to the project in 2008 |
